WordPress is a free content management system with which you can easily create your website, blog or online shop.

No programming knowledge is required to install and operate WordPress. Many providers, such as our partner Raidboxes.de, do most of the work for you with a simple 1-click installation. A new WordPress site can be set up in less than 5 minutes.

WordPress has a graphical admin area where you can make all kinds of configurations for your site. Due to the widespread use of the CMS (approx. 25% of all websites worldwide run on WordPress) and the associated large community, there is a huge marketplace for plugins and design templates. One of the largest providers is Envato/Themeforest, for example, where WordPress designs are available for less than €10.

WordPress is used in many areas of application. It can be used to create online shops, simple landing pages, membership areas, corporate websites, portfolios, marketplaces and much more.

Data protection

There are two views to consider here. The privacy policy of your hosting provider and the privacy policy of your own WordPress site.

Hosting provider

If possible, make sure you choose a hosting provider in Germany whose servers are also located in Germany. German providers are obliged to comply with the GDPR guidelines. You can also play it safe by concluding a data processing agreement with your provider. Here I can recommend our partner provider Raidboxes.de. All servers are located in Germany and are also 100% climate-neutral. A DPA can also be concluded in just a few steps.

Your Wordpress page

There are a few aspects that you need to consider so that your site fully complies with the GDPR guidelines. For example, you need a compliant cookie banner that loads scripts such as the Facebook Pixel or Google Analytics only after the user has accepted the cookie use. See the blog article: In 10 minutes to a free DSGVO-compliant cookie banner for your website.

Furthermore, you need a complete and gap-free data protection declaration and an imprint. Be sure to get individual advice here. A good place to start is, for example, https://www.it-recht-kanzlei.de/.
