Webflow is a modern, visual online editor for designing, creating and operating websites and online shops without programming knowledge. With the Webflow content management system, you can easily create tables for your data and display them on the website interface. The VisualMakers website is also based on the Webflow CMS. A basic understanding of HTML and CSS is an advantage, but not a prerequisite. The editor requires some time to get used to, as the many functions and options can quickly seem overwhelming. Webflow offers comprehensive courses on the use of Webflow with its own university (English only).

The editor offers almost unlimited creative possibilities. It also contains comprehensive settings for animations.

In the"Showcase" of Webflow you can find many projects of the community, which you can copy for free and adapt to your needs with a simple click.

Data protection

Webflow uses Amazon Web Services to provide its websites, which store the data in the USA, among other places. Accordingly, Webflow is also affected by the discontinuation of the Privacy Shield agreement between the EU and the USA. Webflow has recently reacted to the ruling and has taken appropriate steps to improve its data protection conditions. Furthermore, you should enter into an order processing contract or data processing agreement (link to form) with Webflow.

Feedback from Webflow (August 2020):

  • We've updated our Data Processing Agreement (DPA) to include Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to cover Webflow's processing of data on your behalf.
  • You can now find and enter into the updated DPA here ➞ 47.
  • We anticipate the publication of guidance from regulators in the UK, EU and European Economic Area regarding additional protections that could accompany SCCs to further protect the data, so we may make available a newer version soon. In the meantime, we encourage you to enter into this updated DPA.
  • We've updated our Global Privacy Policy 4 and our EU & Swiss Privacy Policy 13 to take into account the invalidation of the Privacy Shield as a mechanism for exporting data out of the EU.
  • We continue to comply with our obligations to individuals under the Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework (which still is a sufficient mechanism for transfers from Switzerland, according to the Swiss Data Protection and Information Commissioner 3).
  • We are considering additional technical and organisational safeguards we can offer, beyond contractual language, including an EU-hosted version of our service. We do not have an announcement to make on that front at this time. We are also in touch with our sub-processors as part of this process.
